Gamma Knife treatment is non-incisional and is commonly completed as a day-care procedure. Every patient requires individual clinical and imaging review to determine whether radiosurgery is appropriate.

The Leksell Gamma Knife Icon combines stereotactic localisation, advanced imaging and highly focused radiation beams. The aim is to deliver an effective dose to the target while limiting exposure to surrounding healthy brain.

Every patient is assessed individually. The following steps explain the usual pathway, although the exact process may vary according to diagnosis, imaging and clinical needs.
Consultation, symptom review, examination and evaluation of previous treatment records.
MRI, CT or angiography is reviewed to determine whether Gamma Knife is technically and clinically appropriate.
Detailed stereotactic planning is completed by the clinical and medical physics team before focused treatment delivery.
Clinical review and interval imaging are arranged according to the diagnosis and expected treatment response.
